Lucky Threads is a UK-based studio specialising in free-motion thread art, custom stitched clothing, and handmade textile artwork.
Using free-motion, hand-controlled embroidery, I draw directly onto fabric with thread — no digital automation, no printing. Every design is stitched freehand, creating expressive line art with texture, movement, and character. Each piece is carefully made to be worn, displayed, or collected as a truly original artwork.
All Lucky Threads pieces are hand-stitched in the UK and produced in small runs or as one-off designs. Because every stitch is guided by hand, no two items are ever exactly the same.
Illustration-led designs are at the heart of Lucky Threads, but I’m always open to fresh ideas and new creative directions. If your work feels like it could translate beautifully into stitch, I’d love to see it.
Lucky Threads also runs a creative collaboration programme for line-art illustrators. Selected artwork is transformed into stitchable designs and featured on clothing and textile artwork. Artists are paid per item sold and credited for their work.

Hi, I’m Claire — the one-woman stitcher behind Lucky Threads.
Every piece is stitched by hand in my UK studio, created slowly, intentionally, and infused with good energy — a little quiet magic in every stitch.
Lucky Threads began with a love of tattoo-style line art, storytelling, and the beauty of imperfect, human-made marks. Today, each design is still drawn free-hand with thread, meaning no two pieces are ever exactly the same.
What Is Free-Motion Thread Art?
Free-motion thread art is machine stitching guided entirely by hand.
No automation. No print.
Think sketchy tattoo-style lines, organic movement, and bold personality. Because the thread is controlled manually, each line has its own life and texture — the opposite of mass-produced embroidery.
This technique allows me to “draw” straight onto sweatshirts and tees using only thread. It’s expressive, imperfect in the best way, and wonderfully unique.
