Work With Lucky Threads — Artist Collaborations
Artist collaboration opportunities are open for illustrators and creatives who love bold line art, tattoo-style doodles, and weirdly wonderful illustrations.

I’m building Lucky Threads as a small, independent brand that collaborates with artists to turn original designs into wearable, stitched art on my T-shirts and sweatshirts. When your artwork becomes part of a Lucky Threads design, it isn’t printed or mass-produced. It’s translated into free-motion embroidery, stitched by hand, felt, and brought to life in its own one-of-a-kind way.

The goal is simple:
create something people love to wear, while making sure artists are credited, respected, and paid fairly for their work.

Each time someone chooses your design, you get paid — and your art gets to live out in the world, worn and loved by people who value slow fashion and real creativity.

How It Works

1. Submit Your Design

Send your line art (clean, black-and-white works best). This can be digital or scanned.

I personally review every submission to make sure it translates well into embroidery and fits the Lucky Threads style.

2. If Accepted, Your Work Goes Live

If your design is a good fit, it will be added to the Lucky Threads website as a selectable design.

Each product is made to order. When a customer chooses your design, I stitch it by hand using free-motion embroidery and ship it directly to them.

You’ll be fully credited on the product page, and tagged when your work is featured on social media.

3. You Get Paid When It Sells

Every time someone buys your design, you’ll receive:

  • £2 per kids’ tee or sweatshirt sold
  • £4 per adult tee or sweatshirt sold

Payments are made monthly via PayPal or bank transfer.

You Earn Ongoing Royalties

Every time your design sells, you’ll earn:

  • £2 per kids’ item
  • £4 per adult item

Payments are made monthly via PayPal or bank transfer.

This is designed as passive income — once your design is live, it can continue earning over time with no extra work required.

Pricing & Transparency

Artist collaboration pieces include a small additional cost compared to standard designs.

This premium exists specifically to:

  • pay the artist per sale
  • reflect the uniqueness of artist-created work

Your designs will be clearly marked as Artist Collaborations, highlighting your contribution and making each piece feel more special to customers.

What You Keep

You retain full copyright ownership of your work

You grant Lucky Threads a non-exclusive licence to use the design

You’re free to use, sell, or tattoo your design elsewhere at any time

What Works Best

Designs that translate well into thread art tend to be:

  • Clean line art (minimal shading, no colour fills)
  • Tattoo-inspired or flash-style designs
  • Quirky, playful, slightly offbeat ideas

If it’s something you’d happily wear yourself, it’s probably a good fit.

A Note on Fit & Selection

Not every submission will be accepted, simply because some designs don’t translate well into stitching or don’t align with the brand’s style.

That said, there’s:

  • no limit on submissions
  • no deadline
  • no pressure

Why I’m Doing This

Lucky Threads is built around the idea of making clothing feel more personal and artistic.

Rather than mass-produced graphics, I want to create a space where artists can contribute designs that people genuinely connect with — and share in the value when they do.

As the brand grows, I plan to expand artist collaborations with:

  • higher-paying featured drops
  • more visibility for contributing artists
  • broader creative opportunities
